Caerwyn of Nightstone

Human Cleric (Knowledge)

As the fourth son of the Nandar of Nightstone, Caerwyn knew that no title nor wealth awaited him upon his coming of age. The timid yet acute boy spent most of his days reading the few books of the family library over and over.

When a pilgrim on his way to Candlekeep noticed the boy’s keen intellect, Caerwyn’s parents were only too happy to entrust their son to the priest, to be trained in the greatest library of Faerun.

Yet Caerwyn only visited Candlekeep shortly, as the pilgrim had been entrusted by his superiors to study ancient texts stored in a remote monastery in the Cloud Peaks. Together with a few more adepts, Caerwyn spent his youth pouring over the obscure tomes, showing a particular interest in the healings arts, both magical and mundane.

It was during this period that he met Vigath, a young goliath member of an order of devout followers of Grumbar the Earthlord, entrusted with safeguarding the Cloud Peaks.

But the isolation of the monastery precluded Caerwyn from practicing his healing arts on those that really needed them. When his training as a cleric of Oghma was completed, Caerwyn decided to travel north, to offer his healing touch to whoever was in need, be them humans, elves, or orcs. His good friend Vigath, eager to make a name for himself as a great warrior, joined the cleric in his travels.

The two saw many battlefields in their travels, and they never shied from danger. During one of their adventures, they were captured by a goblin tribe locked in a generational war with their orc enemies. Thanks to Vigath’s prowess and Caerwyn’s healing touch, they survived this ordeal by making themselves useful to the goblinoids, until they managed to escape their imprisonment.

After so many years away from home, Caerwyn has decided to pay a visit to his family and home in Nightstone. But Fate has something different in store for him…
